The organization ISC2 announced that the initiative which was meant to provide free access to the Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) course and exam for 1 million people will be ending. Interested candidates have their last chance to register until May 20, 2026.
ISC2 is a globally recognized non-profit organization that provides professional education and prestigious certifications in the field of cybersecurity. Its mission is to develop the knowledge and skills of people in the IT industry, as well as those who are just starting out in cybersecurity.
Since 2022, ISC2 has provided free access to the course and exam as part of the One Million Certified in Cybersecurity initiative. The initiative aimed to lower barriers to entry into the industry, expand foundational knowledge and skills in cybersecurity, and strengthen security in the digital space.
The program has achieved its goal, as more than 1 million people have enrolled in the course, and it will therefore be discontinued as of May 20, 2026. 5. 2026. Interested individuals have one last opportunity to submit their application by this date. Registered participants will be able to complete the course and take the exam by the end of 2026 at the latest.
The Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) certification does not end here. Like other certifications, it will be available for purchase (for $199). Since CC is accredited under ISO 17024, it serves as a relevant validation of knowledge and skills in cybersecurity and enhances participants’ qualifications in the job market.
